The President has been self-centered from the beginning. His profound bows to foreign dignitaries, particularly the Saudi Leaders, are most disturbing. The President thinks he is being conciliatory. They say to themselves, “We can handle this guy.”
His speeches,using the teleprompter, show his eyes moving from left to right; from one teleprompter screen to the other, with an occasional pause in between. There is no communication with his audience; he isn’t talking to them. He’s talking to the outside world only the outside world isn’t paying any attention other than to conclude: “same old, same old.”
The use of teleprompters to speak to a class of 6th graders (perhaps 30-35 in number) illustrates the above point.
If one wished to speak effectively to 30 or 35 children, he’d walk among them and speak to them one on one. Not so the President. But, you see, he wasn’t talking to them. They were just “props”.

It would appear that nothing in President Obama’s past prepared him for leadership and he simply does not know how to lead.
This came accross to me strongly in his recent speech in Ohio where he used the word “fight” some 20 times.
He does not appear to understand that what the people want is for him to effectively craft policies and programs that will improve our condition, leveraging his huge majority.
We do not need, nor do we want someone to valiantly sally forth to slay an army of straw men.
He doesn’t know what to do and doesn’t know how to do it. He also does not appear to be able to listen as Summers, Romer and others do understand the folly of his economic policies but apparently go unheeded.
BUT – can we say that the objective to “transform America” has been abandoned?
No indeed, the DECONSTRUCTIONIST program is still underway, with weigh on. The systems (a-la-spending) are being intentionally overloaded to cause breakdowns – if not now, then in the foreseeable future; all so that the systems so fractured can be put back together in a fashion to achieve a “just” or “more just” social order [meaning political control to replace what has evolved in freedoms that will be restrained].
And on the “Fat Cat Bankers;” who owns the banks? We do, with 63-77% owned by pension funds, endowments, charitable trusts, mutual funds, and the balances of 32-37% by private investors. THEY is US that Mr. Zero is yapping about.

Win, lose or draw. there is nothing worse for humans than the loss of individual freedoms that sucks their strengths–physical and mental. What would the efficiency and evolution of nature given mankind to survive. Those without “it” would have died out. It would not have been survive as a victim! We do not have long ears nor eyes at the side of our heads. Nor do we run at 50+ mph. And surely not a helpless human being with the outstretched hand. We have relative short arms, but strong. The eyes face forward with a need for awareness but not pure flight and avoidance.

Oh yes, a commission to balance the budget — sorta. Tough talk abroad — kinda. Health care reform we can all agree on — maybe.
In the past, every time Obama has been in a jam, two things followed. He first throws under the bus perceived liabilities (yesterday’s Rev. Wright and grandmother will be this year’s Rahm Emanuel, Timothy Geithner and Janet Napolitano).
Second, he adopts the no more red state/blue state, “bipartisan,” “there is only one America” rhetoric. Yes, soon we will indeed hear abroad of American exceptionalism, and a thing called “the war on terror,” and, at home, deficits that must be paid back and “working across the aisle.”
I doubt we get genuine effort at balancing the budget, keeping businesses competitive, cutting waste, restoring American alliances, securing borders, centrist appointments, real bipartisanship, or a simplified tax system.
Instead, we’ve come full circle from the idealistic-sounding, centrist candidate Obama, to the Carter-McGovern President Obama, back to the wannabe Clinton triangulator. The only constant — no real identity, no firm belief, no core convictions from which to make the argument that his left-wing vision is good for the country. You see, Mr. Obama never had to: left-wing dogma was always a state religion in the circles Obama thrived, and once Obama the nightingale started in his song, few of the hypnotized worried about inane message that followed.
Washington graybeards and pundits have been insisting that Obama needs to "start over," "reboot" and "tack to the middle" after Scott Brown's win in Massachusetts. But Obama's response last night was to recommit himself to the agenda that has gotten him in so much trouble.
In fairness, the president took a French-bath of Clintonism before he took to his beloved TelePrompTer. He doused himself with the scent of the deficit-fighter and trade-promoter. He unveiled a slew of small, easy, applause-gathering proposals and populist appeals that he knows will go nowhere.
He also indulged in a lot of feel-your-pain pathos, trying to connect with the real Americans suffering from the recession and the misdeeds of a "Washington" that Obama seems to think is run by someone other than him.
But the eau-de-Clinton couldn't mask the stench -- and Obama, in his supreme arrogance, didn't really seem to care.
There was no "pivot to the center," no serious accounting for the Massachusetts miracle or his misfortunes. Instead, there was an innumerate, inaccurate and distinctly unpresidential whine -- blaming George W. Bush for nearly all of his problems (leaving out, among other things, that the Democrats have been controlling Congress and crafting budgets since 2006).
The White House insists that the new wave of populism created by Democratic governance is, in fact, the same populist wave that carried Obama to victory in 2008. In other words, Obama was elected president by the backlash against his own presidency.
This novel theory allows Obama to stick to his view that there's nothing wrong with his health-care plan, and anyone who feels differently hasn't heard or understood the president's explanations.
So, he not only implored Democrats not to "run for the hills" on the health-reform bill, but insisted that as "temperatures cool," hot-tempered opponents will, of course, realize they were wrong about the bill.
Obama began his presidency insisting that government is the answer to our problems. A year later, he still believes that the era of big government is upon us.
Stability is critical to any stock market rally. The serious players are confident people. Give them lemons, they make lemonade. Rocks and they make Rock Soup.
The only thig they have problems dealing with is uncertainty. I suppose there are a few that are willing to try to make a casserole. Or maybe meatloaf.

The left cannot face the truth that this is for a generation or so longer a center-right country that in defiance is rejecting the statism of Obama — and therefore it will construct a ludicrous hypothesis that Obama’s failure is predicated on his being too centrist. That way, they can disguise their own desire to distance themselves from an unpopular and, for now, losing cause by some sort of adherence to a higher principle.

For Mr. Brown now, everything depends on execution. He made the Olympics. Now he has to do the swan dive, with a billion people watching. And then he has to do it again.
He needs to serve the country the way he campaigned for votes—earnest, open, not beholden to interest or party.
And he needs to avoid the Descent of the Congressional Vampires, who'll attempt to claim his victory as their own and suck from his neck until he's a pale and lifeless husk.

Speaking broadly: In the 2006 and 2008 elections, and at some point during the past decade, the ancestral war between Democrats and the Republicans began to take on a new look.
If you were a normal human sitting at home having a beer and watching national politics peripherally, as normal people do until they focus on an election, chances are pretty good you came to see the two major parties not as the Dems versus the Reps, or the blue versus the bed, but as the Nuts versus the Creeps.
The Nuts were for high spending and taxing and the expansion of government no matter what. The Creeps were hypocrites who talked one thing and did another, who went along on the spending spree while lecturing on fiscal solvency.
In 2008, the voters went for Mr. Obama thinking he was not a Nut but a cool and sober moderate of the center-left sort. In 2009 and 2010, they looked at his general governing attitudes as reflected in his preoccupations—health care, cap and trade—and their hidden, potential and obvious costs, and thought, "Uh-oh, he's a Nut!"
Which meant they were left with the Creeps.
But the Republican candidates in Virginia and New Jersey, and now Scott Brown in Massachusetts, did something amazing. They played the part of the Creep very badly! They put themselves forward as serious about spending, as independent, not narrowly partisan.
Mr. Brown rarely mentioned he was a Republican, and didn't even mention the party in his victory speech. Importantly, their concerns were on the same page as the voters'.
They focused on the relationship between spending and taxing, worried about debt and deficits, were moderate in their approach to social issues. They didn't have wedge issues, they had issues.
The contest between the Nuts and the Creeps may be ending.
The Nuts just got handed three big losses, and will have to have a meeting in Washington to discuss whether they've gotten too nutty.
But the Creeps have kind of had their meetings—in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts. And what seems to be emerging from that is a new and nonsnarling Republicanism. (As represented by John McGoofy McCain?)
It may be true—and they will demonstrate in time if it is true—that they have learned from past defeats, absorbed the lessons, reconsidered the meaning of politics.

But if McDonnell, Christie and Brown could roll up large enough shares of the white vote to win in three major states McCain lost, why did McCain lose all three?
Answer: In 2008, the working and middle class had had a bellyful of the Bush-McCain Republicans. They were seen as pro-amnesty for illegal aliens and pro-NAFTA, when U.S. workers had watched 5 million manufacturing jobs disappear in a decade – and reappear in China.
They were willing to give Obama a chance because Obama had persuaded them by November he was not just another big-spending utopian liberal.
So what have Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi been doing for a year? Crafting a federal takeover of health care with a vast plan that provides coverage for the uninsured – most of whom are minorities – while sticking it to Medicare recipients, 80 percent to 90 percent of whom are white.
Immigrants are 21 percent of the uninsured, but only 7 percent of the population. This means white folks on Medicare or headed there will see benefits curtailed, while new arrivals from the Third World, whence almost all immigrants come, get taxpayer-subsidized health insurance.
Any wonder why all those tea-party and town-hall protests seem to be made up of angry white folks?
What the McDonnell, Christie and Brown victories teach is that the GOP should stop listening to the Wall Street Journal and start listening to these forgotten Americans.
An end to affirmative action and ethnic preferences, an end to bailouts of Wall Street bankers, a moratorium on immigration until unemployment falls to 6 percent, an industrial policy that creates jobs here and stops shipping them to China appear a winning hand in 2012.
Only a minority of Americans now believe the president will make the right decisions for the country. Nor can he any longer take refuge in the rejoinder that "we inherited a terrible situation." Or blame it on fat-cat bankers and insurance companies.
Blaming others, including Bush, for the country's predicament is less and less persuasive.
"At some point you own your presidency," wrote Peggy Noonan in the Wall Street Journal. "At some point the American people tell you it's yours."

He appeared on five Sunday talk shows on the same morning, followed the next day by David Letterman, the first-ever presidential appearance on a nighttime comedy show. In another week, he squeezed in addresses to the U.S. Climate Change Summit, the U.N. General Assembly, the U.N. Security Council, and a variety of press conferences.
His promiscuity on TV has made him seem as if he is still a candidate instead of president and commander in chief. He—and his advisers—have failed to appreciate that national TV speeches are best reserved for those moments when the country faces a major crisis or a war. Now he faces the iron law of diminishing novelty.
Despite this apparent accessibility, Obama's reliance on a teleprompter for flawless delivery made for boring and unemotional TV, compounding his cerebral and unemotional style.
He has seemed not close but distant, not engaged but detached. Is it any wonder that the mystique of his presidency has eroded so that fewer people have listened to each successive foray?
The columnist Richard Cohen wryly observed that he won the Pulitzer Prize for being the only syndicated columnist who did not have an exclusive interview with the president.
There are dozens of recent exposés on the California mess. The “I accuse” themes—all quite accurate—are well known.
(a) The state propositions have hamstrung the legislature, and resulted in almost no free choices anymore in budgetary decision.
(b) The legislature—due to partisan gerrymandering, the unnecessarily large number of legislators in an unnecessary bicameral system, and term-limits—is inexperienced, captive to special interests, and increasingly incompetent.
(c) State employees have taken over the state: they are paid far above the national average, not accountable, and almost impossible to fire when found to be incompetent. The state pension system is unsustainable. Pay cuts, lay-offs, or furloughs loom.
(d) The nation’s highest income, sales, and gas taxes have driven out the most productive residents—to the tune of 3,500 a week—to no-tax or little-tax neighboring states.
OK— agreed, and I have written all that myself in various articles. But there is another problem never raised in polite company.
California, by most estimates, has somewhere between 40-50% of the nation’s illegal immigrants. That may mean 5-7 million residents here illegally, most without English, documentation, or high-school diplomas.
This makes the practice of assimilation into the middle-class a multigenerational process over decades, rather than in the past, when immigrants came in fewer numbers and more often legally.
The state ranks 47-48th in most studies of the achievement levels of the nation’s schools, mostly due to millions of entering students who do not speak English well, if at all.
Of the some $50 billion in remittances that leave the U.S. each year to Latin America, perhaps $20 billion come from California residents, draining the state of capital, and ensuring that the donors will be in need of state health, education, housing and food supplements.
California’s taxpayers, in essence, subsidize Oaxaca and Jalisco—that may be humanitarian, and worthy of praise, but it is costly nonetheless, and perhaps beyond the financial resources of the majority of the population.
I’ll pass on increased per capita rates of crime, gangs, etc. that are considered too illiberal to mention.
But if studies are correct that anyone who comes north, without English, legality, and education, over his life-cycle will have to draw somewhere between $50,000 and $70,000 more in entitlements than he contributes in various taxes, and if we were to prorate that on an annual basis, and if we were to multiply that by several million, then one can envision an annual outlay of several billion in state expenditures.
Instead, illegal immigration is never much cited as a contributor to California’s fiscal implosion. To mention all this is considered racist.
Yet, to take one instance, the cost of incarcerating the state’s illegal aliens alone exceeds the budget of the new UC Merced, a campus intended to serve mostly minority communities of the central valley.
The solution? Allow only legal immigration. Base admittance to the U.S. mostly on skills and our own need for expertise and capital. Trust in merit, and ignore the race and origin of the would-be immigrant.

President Barack Obama advised fellow Democrats against trying to jam a health care bill through Congress after taking a devastating hit from the loss of a Senate seat. He said Wednesday it's time to come together around a bill that can draw Republican support, too.
When Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown takes office he will hand the GOP power to block the Democratic agenda, including Obama's top domestic priority of extending health coverage to the uninsured.
"The people of Massachusetts spoke. He's got to be part of that process," Obama said.
Now Democrats need to reach across the aisle on popular health care provisions such as cost controls and aid to small businesses, he said.
Earlier Wednesday, Obama political adviser David Axelrod said administration officials will take into account the message voters delivered Tuesday in electing Brown, but he declined to go further.
"It's not an option simply to walk away from a problem that's only going to get worse," Axelrod said.

The Harvard educated Barack Obama is too poorly educated to reverse course on his agenda. It’s all he knows and his narcissism prevents him from reexamining long held beliefs. Throwing his grandmother under the bus was much easier.
Obama’s White House is filled with economic illiterates. They are convinced Keynesians.
Big government economic policies are fantastic for the elite classes, providing countless career opportunities and incredible power. Since this stuff is so good for them, it should presumable be also great for the unwashed masses who never attended an Ivy League institution.
Obama’s people find it inconceivable that Keynes did not offer doctrines guaranteed to create a booming economy. They will not abandon their utopian goal of having the political class and government bureaucrats dominate the private sector.

But I know no other word for President Obama’s long string of “misstatements,” especially the blatant ones about closing Guantanamo within a year of his inauguration or serially declaring that he would insist on healthcare debate airing live on C-SPAN.
How odd that the liberal block is quiet that once coined “Bush lied, thousands died” (even when the CIA and Defense intelligence was accepted by both parties and in sync with what the Arab world and Europe were insisting upon [recall the charge of a supposed naïve Bush taking us to war against a nut who would gas our troops marshalling in Kuwait.]).
In any case, not telling the truth has a lot to do with sinking polls.
So I don’t quite buy the liberal lament that the people will support Obama when the economy improves.

The idea of a muckraking Obama nominating Tom Daschle as his Health Secretary — the liberal populist who skips out of thousands of dollars in taxes on his free corporate limousine service — was the stuff of satire.

Voters are sick and tired of a terrible year of big spending and big deficits — especially the sight of Obama and his congressional allies almost daily talking breezily about spending what we do not have.
Voters went for the hope-and-change Obama in part because he promised fiscal sobriety after the Bush $500 billion deficit. Instead, in utterly cynical fashion, Obama trumped that red ink four times over.
In the process, he developed a terrible habit of promising favored constituencies a hundred billion here, a hundred billion there as if it were all paper money — rather than real borrowed currency that will have to be confiscated in the future from the beleaguered taxpayer.
It only makes it worse that the more the administration borrowed, printed, and spent, the higher unemployment rose and the lower economic activity plummeted.
Most have had enough of pie-in-the-sky talk of massive new healthcare entitlements, cap-and-trade taxes and regulation, more stimulus, and more takeovers of private enterprise. The country is broke and the people want to pay off, not incur more, crushing debt. What got us into the mess was too much borrowing, skyrocketing debt, and reckless spending — not too many balanced budgets and too much lean government.

Welcoming the rise of a giant Asian economy that is also turning into a liberal democracy is one thing. Sponsoring the rise of a Leninist one-party state, that is America’s only plausible geopolitical rival, is a different proposition.
Combine this political disillusionment with double-digit unemployment in the US that is widely blamed on Chinese currency manipulation, and you have the formula for an anti-China backlash.
Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush firmly believed that free trade and, in particular, the information age would make political change in China irresistible.
On a visit to China in 1998, Mr Clinton proclaimed: “In this global information age, when economic success is built on ideas, personal freedom is essential to the greatness of any nation.”
A year later, Mr Bush made a similar point: “Economic freedom creates habits of liberty. And habits of liberty create expectations of democracy ... Trade freely with the Chinese and time is on our side.”

House speaker sounds confident of reform passage, even with a big loss for Democrats possibly on the horizon

Given what looks like the impending loss of the party's Senate supermajority, Democrats have reason to be down in the dumps about healthcare reform. But if that's the way House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's feeling, she's not showing it publicly.
"Let's remove all doubt, we will have healthcare one way or another," Pelosi said during an event in San Francisco on Monday. "Certainly the dynamic would change depending on what happens in Massachusetts. Just the question about how we would proceed. But it doesn't mean we won't have a health care bill."
There is one way to pass the bill, even without 60 votes in the Senate, that's getting a lot of attention now.
"We're going to see this through," Coakley, the state's attorney general, told one guest.
Coakley, in her remarks at the breakfast, linked her candidacy to the legacy of King and Edward M. Kennedy. "If you send me to the Senate, I will be guided by those values," she said. "It's not about me anymore. It never was. It's what Martin Luther King stood for. It's what Ted Kennedy stood for."
She said King would have been on the "front lines" fighting for health care "not as a privilege but as a right, as Senator Kennedy often said."
And in a veiled criticism of Brown, Coakley said she understood that "people are frustrated and angry," but said there were no "easy answer to the tough questions."

What was often left unmentioned in Reid’s now much-publicized racial gaffe was not just his editorializing on skin color and dialect, but his allegation of cynicism on the part of Obama, highlighted by the qualifier in “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,” which suggests that Reid thought the Hawaiian-raised Obama inauthentically switched dialects to fit his audience.
Even more revealing was the reaction of the president — who, recall, as a state legislator called for Trent Lott’s resignation — to Reid’s racialism, absolving him of any more penance:
“I’ve seen the passionate leadership he’s shown on issues of social justice.” In other words, Obama brazenly articulates what others have discerned from the tepid responses to Reid’s past racialism, as well as to Biden’s “clean” remark and Clinton’s quip that Obama not long ago would have been serving him coffee:
Those who appear committed to liberal notions of “social justice” are absolved of guilt for insensitive speech.

In her own polling, Coakley is said to be around five points behind Republican Scott Brown. "If she's not six or eight ahead going into the election, all the intensity is on the other side in terms of turnout," the Democrat says. "So right now, she is destined to lose."
Intensifying the gloom, the Democrat says, is the fact that the same polls showing Coakley falling behind also show President Obama with a healthy approval rating in the state. "With Obama at 60 percent in Massachusetts, this shouldn't be happening, but it is," the Democrat says.
Given those numbers, some Democrats, eager to distance Obama from any electoral failure, are beginning to compare Coakley to Creigh Deeds, the losing Democratic candidate in the Virginia governor's race last year. Deeds ran such a lackluster campaign, Democrats say, that his defeat could be solely attributed to his own shortcomings, and should not be seen as a referendum on President Obama's policies or those of the national Democratic party.
The same sort of thinking is emerging in Massachusetts. "This is a Creigh Deeds situation," the Democrat says. "I don't think it says that the Obama agenda is a problem. I think it says, 1) that she's a terrible candidate, 2) that she ran a terrible campaign, 3) that the climate is difficult but she should have been able to overcome it,

While polls show opposition to the legislation -- a Quinnipiac University survey found 58 percent of Americans opposing the way Obama was handling the issue -- Van Hollen said the individual components were popular and most people will support the measure once it clears Congress.
“It’s been subject to a lot of demagoguery, a lot of misinformation,” Van Hollen said. Once the measure is finished, “people will see the benefits.”

Romney failed to overcome doubts about the genuineness of his principles in 2008 after he transformed himself from a moderate Republican in Massachusetts in favour of abortion rights into a crusading social conservative.
Despite his “Matinee Mitt” looks, huge fortune (though slightly less huge since he spent an estimated $50 million in 2008), executive experience and intelligence, Romney had an authenticity problem that he just could not overcome.
His fellow Republican candidates seemed to have a visceral dislike of him, (And why wouldn't they since he is a threat to revoke their license to steal) though that has abated somewhat, especially in the case of John McCain, whom Romney loyally supported in the general election campaign.
The Republican congressional party has often sought the former CEO’s expertise for ideas on economic policy. It is widely assumed that he will run again in 2012 and if so probably start as the official frontrunner. (So now we know why the dwarves have to stop him before he can connect with the people.)
The question of his Mormon religion – which many evangelicals regard as a semi-Christian cult – will doubtless rear its head again.

His opposition to “big government” and Obama has seen him adopted by many in the Tea Party movement as their figurehead. There has been talk of a presidential bid, which will do his ratings no harm.
The losing Republican presidential candidate’s concession speech on election night in 2008 was one of his finest moments, a shining example of the dignity, fairness and patriotism that McCain’s supporters adore him for. (GIVE ME A BREAK.)
Some erratic moments did his campaign no favours, but it was probably always a virtually unwinnable election for Republicans, and the former Vietnam prisoner of war came through with his honour substantially intact, not least because he declined to go strongly negative against Obama and raise issues like his relationship wth the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Plenty of fellow moderate Republicans have privately and publicly questioned the wisdom of picking Sarah Palin as a vice-presidential candidate, but in the end it was perhaps no more than a gamble that didn’t pay off. No one could foresee the phenomenon she became.

Rather than go back to Alaska, become a first-class governor, study policy issues and gently reintroduce herself to the “Lower 48” states in due course, Palin decided to do something entirely different. Stating that “only dead fish go with the flow”, she resigned the Alaska governorship, published a book that broke publishing records and, this week, signed on as a Fox News contributor.
It remains unclear whether Palin intends to run for President – she may well genuinely not know herself – but she will certainly be one of conservatism’s most influential figures for the forseeable future.
Rich Lowry of National Review described her as “an isotope designed to course throughout our politics and culture, lighting up press bias, self-congratulatory liberalism, Christianity-hating secularism, and intellectual condescension wherever they are found”.
Whether she could be a saviour for Republicans or doom them to continued irrelevance is a question that will continue to divide conservatives across America.

With that share of the U.S. national debt held by individuals, corporations, pension funds and foreign governments having risen in 2009 from 41 percent to 53 percent of GDP, Penner and Walker believe it imperative to get the deficit under control.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to see how, politically, this can be done.
Consider. The five largest elements in the budget are Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, defense and interest on the debt.
With interest rates near record lows, and certain to rise, and back-to-back $1.4 trillion deficits, this budget item has to grow and has to be paid if the U.S. government is to continue to borrow.
Second, with seniors on fire against Medicare cuts in health-care reform, it would be fatal for the Obama Democrats to curtail Social Security or Medicare benefits any further this year.
Next year, they will not only lack the congressional strength but any desire to do so, after their anticipated shellacking this fall.
The same holds true for Medicaid. The Party of Government is not going to cut health benefits for its most loyal supporters. Indeed, federal costs may rise as state governments, constitutionally required to balance their budgets, cut social benefits and beg the feds to pick up the slack.
This leaves defense. But the president is deepening the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan to 100,000 troops, and the military needs to replace weaponry and machines depreciated in a decade of war.
Where, then, are the spending cuts to come from?
Can the administration cut Homeland Security, the FBI or CIA after the near disaster in Detroit? Will Obama cut the spending for education he promised to increase? Will he cut funding for food stamps, unemployment insurance or the Earned Income Tax Credit in a recession? For the near term, the entitlements are untouchables.
Is this Democratic Congress, which increased the budgets of all the departments by an average of 10 percent, going to take a knife to federal agencies or federal salaries, when federal bureaucrats and beneficiaries of federal programs are the most reliable voting blocs in their coalition?
What about tax hikes?
Obama has promised to let the Bush tax cuts lapse for those earning $250,000 but has pledged not to raise taxes on the middle class. Any broad-based tax would be politically suicidal for him and his increasingly unpopular party.
But if taxes are off the table, Afghan war costs are inexorably rising and cuts in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and entitlement programs are politically impossible, as pressure builds for a second stimulus, how does one reduce a deficit of $1.4 trillion?
How does one stop the exploding national debt from surging above 100 percent of GDP?
America is the oldest and greatest constitutional republic, the model for all the others. But if our elected politicians are incapable of imposing the sacrifices needed to pull the nation back from the brink of a devaluation or default, is democratic capitalism truly, as Francis Fukuyama told us just two decades ago, the future of mankind?
What the looming fiscal crisis of this country portends is nothing less than a test of whether this democratic republic is sustainable.

Gingrich considers self among top 2012 prospects

CARY, N.C. (AP) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday he considers himself among the top Republican prospects for the 2012 presidential election, adding that he believes there will be plenty of GOP options for voters to consider.
"I think I'm probably on a list of seven or eight possible candidates at this stage," Gingrich said. "
We have a lot of people around the country who would like to have somebody who represents a commitment to replace the current failed programs and to develop a set of solutions that are practical and workable."
Gingrich listed several current and former goverors who he thinks might enter the race. They include former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
He said he will discuss his possible candidacy with his wife early next year before making a decision about whether to run.
Gingrich also suggested that governors Mitch Daniels from Indiana, Haley Barbour from Mississippi, Rick Perry from Texas and Bobby Jindal from Louisiana, as well as South Dakota Sen. John Thune could run.

California’s bailout plea

It didn’t happen in any of his movies, but in real life we are about to witness the spectacle of California’s “Governator” crawling to Washington on his belly, tin cup in hand, begging for help.
When he drove the hapless Gray Davis from the governor’s mansion in 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger seemed invincible and was actually expected to bring California’s big-spending and -taxing ways to an end.
His allies would claim that he tried, and perhaps he did, in a half-hearted sort of way, but in the end the job proved too much for him.
Arnold didn’t just give up, though; he became a part of the problem he’d vowed to solve.
California was once the dream destination for Americans old and new seeking success and the good life.
In spite of his and his wife’s paid advertisements, California is no longer a state to move to, as out-of-control spending, rising taxes and regulations on just about everything have combined to eliminate jobs by the millions, force businesses large and small to seek friendlier bases and make life increasingly miserable for those who choose to stay.
California’s taxes are higher than those in 46 other states and its schools are among the worst in the country.
The contrast with Texas is striking and makes the point as many Californians and California-based businesses flee to Texas.
California has the third highest taxes in the country; Texas the third lowest.
California has the third worst public school system; Texas ranks right in the middle.
Even in the midst of a recession, Texas is generating jobs, while California “enjoys” the fourth highest unemployment rate and the second highest home foreclosure rate in the country.
Last year 1.4 million more people fled California than moved there and those who left tended to be just the sort of folks a successful state simply can’t afford to lose.
They were more highly educated, successful and entrepreneurial than those who were arriving, continuing a long-term trend that exacerbates the state’s problems.

As for self-love…I am not a fan. We now know that men in prison tend to have very high self-esteem. What does that tell you? It tells you self-esteem is not where growth comes from. In fact, it can prevent growth and cause you to become more evil. If you think you’re just dandy the second you pop out of the womb, why would you want to change?
Look at the Bible. Do we see example after example of God telling people, “Hey, stop beating yourself up. You’re WONDERFUL, just the way you are!” Of course not. Over and over, he knocks people to the ground and tells them to remember their place.

You should not be crippled by the projection of your own self-loathing onto other people. But a certain amount of shame is essential. It’s the warning mechanism God built into your soul’s immune system. It tells you something is wrong. It brings people to altars. It causes us to change course when we’re headed for trouble. It keeps people humble.

China banks eclipse US rivals

Chinese banks have cemented their position as the most highly valued financial institutions, taking four of the top five slots in a ranking of banks’ share prices as a multiple of their book values.
China Merchants Bank, China Citic, ICBC and China Construction Bank lead the table, followed by Itaú Unibanco of Brazil, all with a price-to-book multiple of more than three.
Over the past six years, the average price-to-book value of the biggest 50 banks has halved from two to one.
This means that investors believe the average bank is worth no more than the value of its balance sheet. Most western banks are trading at well below their book value.

Congratulations Times Editors. A Margulies political cartoon was masterfully placed alongside commentary by Betsy Hart recently. The banner read, "Dems becoming the self-destruction party." A jackass was displayed and captioned, "In the last election, the Supreme Court handed Bush the presidency." A second jackass, prominately displaying campaign buttons of each of the nine Democrats seeking the presidency replied, "That's OUR job..." Priceless.
Ms. Hart's commentary warned that If the Democratic Party is to avoid irredeemable self-destruction, its braying jackasses must be reigned in forthwith. The nine wannabes have become a national disgrace and are an embarrasment to most Americans.
"The crazies are in control. Hating Bush has destroyed their ability to think and follow a logical argument. They are like raving madmen howling at the full moon." Childish name calling, gutter language, retractions and denials, outright lying, late stage comings to Jesus, and false charges including insane conspiracy theories about the President are unworthy of serious political candidates.

What vestigial danger remained could be changed by the charisma of Barack Obama, the obvious appeal of his ancestry to the Muslim world, and the ritual demonization of George Bush.
While the median income of American families was stagnant, the national debt doubled.
The dollar lost half its value against the euro. Once the most self-sufficient republic in history, which produced 96 percent of all it consumed, the U.S.A. is almost as dependent on foreign nations today for manufactured goods, and the loans to pay for them, as we were in the early years of the republic.
What the British were to us then, China is today.
Beijing holds the mortgage and grows impatient as we endlessly borrow on equity and refuse to begin paying it down. The possibility exists of an eventual run on the dollar or even a U.S. debt default.

You see, the deal is, most of us folks here in the Santa Maria Valley and the Central Coast areas of California now speak Spanish as our first language. Things used to be NORMAL here but things ain't NORMAL anymore.
The Valley's farmers used to tout broccoli, cauliflour, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes and strawberries as a mark of fame. Now we have more than that to boast about even when you throw another big money crop like wine grapes into the mix.
We now have bumper to bumper baby buggies on many of the sidewalks in our town most of the time, and bicycles, along with taco carts and ice cream vendor's wagons competing for that space. And in the streets and alleyways as well, competing for space with the cars and the pickup trucks with the new blue headlights designed to blind oncoming drivers during the daylight hours as they shake the earth while passing by.
We have some sidewalks filled with people strolling aimlessly, looking up to the sky without regard to where they are, where they've been or where they are going. They appear to have no clue.
We have prostitutes hanging out in public places day and night. We have parking lots filled with the stench of cigarette smoke blown there by countless hanger-outers with no where else to go. We have church sponsored sign carrying beggars at nearly all freeway entrances almost all of the daylight hours. You know, like "from each according to his ability".
The Counties of Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, and the State of California, have in concert made sure that we in the Vallley now share our space with a politically correct and appropriate number of gang bangers, dope pushers, retarded folks, physically and mentally handicapped people and the list goes on.
Used condoms, meth swabs and injection needles lying in the gutters fronting our local parks and even residential streets is a sight a casual stroller might encounter frequently in our new Santa Maria. On occassion, possibly at the entry gate to your home, if you're one of the fortunate citizens living between two condominiums that house up to 25 non-english speakers, give or take five or six depending on the day of the week.
Thank you Los Angeles, thank you Santa Barbara. Thank you Mayor Villaragosa, thank you Governor Ahnuld. Enjoy your newly reclaimed pristineness. All this and heaven too? What is a good neighbor for?

We like loud music and louder cars. Screeching cats, barking dogs, and screaming kids, are a constant, never diminished, music in our ears, day and night.
And what could possibly be more pleasant that the smell of boiling meat filling your home starting at 5:00 p.m. each day courtesy of your next door neighbor whose belief in "SHARING" sets new aspirations for us all?
How about the effects of a noxious, reeking, poisonous gas eminating from a not so secret laundry operation sealed up in your home for your inhalation pleasure, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, week after week, month after month, in ever increasing volume? Can you imagine how preasant that would be until it killed you dead?
Well you too can enjoy these experiences if you ask your neighbor to drill a hole in his wall and install a vent pipe and point it in your direction. Just mention to him that it doesn't require any approval by local authorities, an inept uncaring Homeowners Association, or even human decency. You can rest assured that the Home Owners Association won't want to question what is going on because afterall, we are a "community" of individuals just as we are fast becoming a "community of nations" and communites look out for the welfare of one another.

I hoisted a white flag of surrender for the first and only time in my life in October 2009. I was driven from my home. The white flag still flies in 2010 but now in my little replacement dwelling where at least the air is somewhat clean. Here, the people are not yet permitted to poison one another because of the color of their skin.
A few months short of sixty years ago I swore an oath, "SO HELP ME GOD", that I would to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States Of America. I meant every word of it. I offered to give up my life for my country and on more than one occassion, nearly did.
The freedoms I inherited as a United States citizen were always among my proudest possessions. Self-government by a people, as conceptualized by our Founding Fathers, was perhaps the greatest promise for the betterment of Mankind ever put forward in recorded history. I subscribed to to that idea without reservation or purpose of evasion.
Other than my family, there was no greater blessing in my life than citizenship in a free country where I had the right to pursue happiness on my own terms. Good or bad, failure or success, the call and the responsibility for my decisions were mine, not ours.
But now, in 2010, I have lived to see my hometown, my state, my country and finally the world in an escalating downward spiral, a destructive reordering of sanity, that has overwhelmed me.
My country, my state, my hometown, and now my home have been invaded and taken over by seemingly endless hordes of unarmed Mexican invaders with the approval and encouragement of my government, and sponsored in large part by the Vatican's not always so Holy Catholic Church.
Such madness is not confined within the borders of the United States of America. It is a pandemic disease that has spread throughout the world.
The search for UNTOPIA goes forward. It appears that the Globalist Black Muslim Marxist, Magic Mulatto, the substitute Christ, will find it and deliver all the people of the world to that promised land.

So "The One" said, "Not to worry. If your rebate isn't enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out. Just sign up with ACORN and your troubles are over!"
Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..."
And the people said, "Hallelujah!!" And they made him King!
And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff. The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support.
Then "The One" said, "I am the "The One" - The Messiah - and I'm here to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have enough!"
But our foreign trading partners said unto Him, "Wait a minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more..."
And the people said, "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!"
And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!"
And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?"
But yea verily, it was too late. The people set upon "The One" and spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built.
And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish, "Give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too late, and their homeland was no more.
You may think this is a fairy tale, but it's not.
